Gone for six years, Chevrolet re-introduced the Monte Carlo once again in the fall of 1994. There were very distinct changes to this model. There were absolutely no traditional body lines or Monte Carlo script/crest emblems on the car. They were pretty much a Chevy Lumina, but with two doors instead of four. The 1995-1999 Monte Carlo's were front wheel drive, only came with a V6 and didn't come with a Super Sport package. Instead the LS and Z34 were the options. The LS came with a 3.1-liter V6 and the sportier Z34 came with a dual-overhead-cam 3.4-liter V6. In 1998 a new engine replaced the 3.4-liter offered with the Z34 package... the 3.8-liter 3800 Series II V6.
